Hardy PTA

The Hardy Parent-Teacher Association is the primary instrument for facilitating communications and collaboration between Hardy families and school staff.  As a charitable corporation organized under section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code, the PTA also plays an important role in raising private donations throughout the school year to meet needs at Hardy that are not met through the D.C. Public School system budget.

After a somewhat tumultuous 2010-2011 school year, your elected PTA leadership for this year is devoted to the themes of “rebuilding” and “improving.” Beginning with meetings at PTA member homes in July and August (joined by Dr. Mary and her administrative team), your PTA has formed new committees to identify fundraising goals, engage more parent volunteers, and improve school-to-parent and parent-to-parent communications. Stephen Frum (at sfrum@mac.com & 202-494-8083) leads our new Fundraising Committee.  The Hospitality Committee is chaired by Marisa Mize (at m2mom5@gmail.com & 301-325-8215).  And Brian Cohen (at brian.a.cohen@gmail.com & 202-593-1118) chairs our Communications Committee. Please contact them if you are able to lend a hand in any of these areas.

During recent years, parent attendance at PTA meetings has been, frankly, a bit light.  To facilitate increased attendance, we are experimenting with a variety of meeting times.  Thus, rather than having our meetings at the traditional 6:30 p.m. on a week night, the next PTA meeting will be on Wednesday, November 16 from 8 to 9 a.m. in the school library.  Future meetings will be scheduled in light of feedback we receive from fellow Hardy families who fill out this short survey instrument (please be sure to fill it out also): http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8JK6GQL
